Appistry Gives Cloud a Kick in the Apps!

  • Appistry CloudIQ tackles cloud application management -- the "toughest 80%" of cloud computing
  • Launches CloudIQ Manager, the industry's first cloud application management product to allow simple drag-and-drop of resources between cloud environments
  • With new CloudIQ Platform 4.0, early cloud leader creates unified environment for enterprise applications

ST. LOUIS, MO, March 9, 2009 -- Appistry, a pioneer in enterprise cloud computing, today introduced a new product that gives companies the power to deliver and manage cloud computing services more quickly and easily than ever before. The new product, Appistry CloudIQ Manager, represents a smarter approach to cloud computing. As companies migrate their heterogeneous applications to cloud-based environments, Appistry CloudIQ Manager provides a single point of application management across the enterprise.

"Enterprises won't embrace cloud computing until somebody helps them deal with the numerous applications they already have," said Kevin Haar, CEO of Appistry. "Today's cloud is built for single application startups. In order for enterprises to view cloud as something more than an experiment, they need an approach for migrating and managing more than one application. We provide that with CloudIQ Manager."

Appistry CloudIQ Manager is the latest addition to the company's fourth-generation cloud application platform, CloudIQ Platform 4.0, which helps enterprises more intelligently deliver applications utilizing public and private clouds. The platform was designed from the ground up to help enterprises achieve success in highly-distributed cloud environments, building on the company's history with customers such as FedEx, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and GeoEye.

Appistry CloudIQ Manager provides:

  • Extensible support for existing applications, which allows existing applications to be packaged and deployed to a cloud without modification, simplifying migration to the cloud.
  • Application portability across a wide variety of private and public cloud environments, allowing enterprises to choose the right cloud for the right job at the right time and enabling easy creation of private cloud environments.
  • Unified management of applications and services across cloud environments, which reduces cost and complexity by operating all of an enterprise’s applications from a single console.
  • Automated management and migration across clouds, eliminating the complexity of virtual machine image management by focusing on the applications. By automating rolling updates, applying software stack updates across the cloud without taking applications out of service, Appistry CloudIQ Manager ensures consistency of applications and services across the environment.
  • Open and extensible APIs, allowing enterprises to integrate CloudIQ Manager with existing management tools and create next-generation "cloud management mashups."

Appistry CloudIQ Platform 4.0 will be available in Spring 2009 as a software download, ensuring customers can run in private, on-premise clouds, and aren’t locked into a particular provider’s infrastructure. In addition, the Platform will be available through Appistry's network of public cloud provider partners, including Amazon, GoGrid and Skytap.

Appistry will host a webinar on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. PST for those interested in learning more about CloudIQ Manager and the Appistry CloudIQ Platform.
