As cloud computing is investigated and adopted by businesses, its inherent security risks are becoming more apparent.  Governments and large enterprises around the world are attracted to the benefits of the cloud, but are hesitant because of security and privacy risks.

The Global Security Challenge, together with HP Labs, has launched the first Cloud Security Challenge competition to explore radically new ideas and game-changing solutions in order to make cloud computing more secure.

Martin Sadler, Director of the Systems Security Lab at HP Labs, says:

"The Cloud Security Challenge not only allows us to find the much needed new security technologies that will be needed to minimise the risks in using the cloud – it also allows us to find new questions that we will need to find answers to."

The winners will receive a US$10,000 cash prize and up to three of the finalists may be invited to test their technology in the HP Labs test-bed.

The Cloud Security Challenge is also supported by the Cloud Security Alliance and Cloudsecurity.org.

To submit your idea, you must be logged-in to the GSC Online Community.  If you are not already a member you need to join to access the application forms (joining the GSC Online Community is free!)
