FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 28, 2010 @PR2WEB — When cloud storage access solutionprovider Gladinet (http://www.gladinet.com) launched itscloud-attached file server, Gladinet CloudAFS(TM), customer response wasoverwhelmingly positive. Users applauded the functionality of CloudAFS, whichallows small and medium-sized businesses to attach cloud storage to their fileservers, and seamlessly migrate their IT infrastructure to the cloud. Now, inresponse to customer requests, Gladinet has added home directory support toCloudAFS.
The new feature makes it easy to move users’ home directories – thelocations where they store their files – from file servers into the cloud. Theprocess is so simple that the creation of multiple home directory accounts canbe automated by selecting a single checkbox during setup of Gladinet CloudAFS.And users will enjoy seamless access to their cloud home directories withoutadditional Active Directory configuration.
Gladinet CloudAFS gives small andmedium-sized businesses the ability to add unlimited, on-demand cloud storage totheir existing file servers. Using local storage as tier one, CloudAFS turns thecloud into tier-two storage. Users can access and back up their data in thecloud directly from their Windows, Mac and Linux environments via CIFS/SMB/NFSprotocols, or directly from Cloud Desktop. The result is expanded secure storagecapability at a cost significantly lower than that of adding additional on-sitestorage. By facilitating automatic home directory migration for multiple users,Gladinet CloudAFS extends these benefits to more corporate users using theirpreferred cloud storage service.
“With the addition of multi-user homedirectory support, Gladinet Cloud AFS effectively bridges the gap between thepower and low cost of cloud storage and the security and easy accessibility ofthe enterprise file server,” stated Jerry Huang, CEO of Gladinet. “The Gladinetdevelopers came through for our customers wishing to migrate to the cloud, andwe think users will be pleased with the outcome.”
